Here is my un-scientific of the NZ SFF Beef Rib Eye that I bought on Sunday.

The packaging: Very standard for frozen beef
Size: 150g is smaller than how most Rib Eye is sold in the supermarkets I shop at in Shanghai, it's usually 200g.

It looks good coming out of the packaging.

I did defrost this slowly overnight in the refrigerator so I could understand its quality. But I would usually quickly defrost a piece of beef like this.
I cooked it how I cook all of the steaks I eat at home (not very well! haha) with plenty of Grass-fed NZ butter.

I would cook a single steak like this at least once or twice a week, so I have a very simple process.
It looked like all the other steaks I cook.

Unfortunately, I live in a household that likes there steak cooked well done (like many Chinese people).

I did not tell my family that this was the SFF steak, and their feedback was interesting.
Unfortunately, the feedback was not good:
It was a lot tougher than our normal steak, by noticeable difference.

We would eat a Ribeye at least once a week but this piece of meat was not as good and we will not buy this again.
This is the normal NZ beef that we eat. The big difference that I see (apart from size) it that it is Angus beef and SFF is just called NZ Beef. Maybe that is the reason for the major difference in eating quality? I don't know but it is disappointing https://twitter.com/NZhunt3r/status/1243784294792740870?s=20
So that's my very un-scientific review I the new SFF Ribeye being sold in a supermarket in Shanghai. If this is the standard quality for that pricing, then they are going to have plenty of challenges. end/.
