Mizzou was very clearly unprepared to keep students safe upon their return this fall. In the following thread, we will be sharing details of what Mizzou won’t boast about on social media: the poor conditions that many students have to quarantine in.
Mizzou seems to be having trouble making sure students are receiving meals. While some students have meals delivered like this one... (Credit to @outspokenchameleon on TikTok)
Other students are receiving very small food portions. https://twitter.com/rachel_cook24/status/1303088435641692160
This same student also posted this TikTok showing conditions in the hotel room. It’s no surprise that students would be needing these rooms, so why were they not cleaned? @Mizzou And why do students have to work so hard just to get their meals?
Mizzou seems to be very disorganized with meals, sometimes even forgetting about students. (Credit to @mialrich on TikTok)
This is not an isolated incident of forgetting to bring food to quarantined students. (Credit to MU Student @victoria.seever on TikTok) If they are not brought food and their calls aren’t answered, students either have to break quarantine to get food / use their own money @Mizzou
Students are also having trouble even getting placed in rooms. Once again this was not a surprise, so why didn’t Mizzou plan ahead and make sure they were ready for a lot of students needing quarantine housing?
MU is apparently in need of more drivers to transport students to quarantine housing. They sent the following email asking current employees to “supplement” their current employment with driving shifts - meanwhile MU has laid off staff in other departments.
Quarantine dorms are only available for students in Residential Life, so many students end up stuck without anywhere to go. https://twitter.com/coryjohnsontv/status/1300620873230024704
Students came back to school for a reason and Mizzou just made false promises of “safety” while leaving students like this one with no where to safely quarantine (Credit MU student josiecostello5 on TikTok)
Ah yes a goodie bag! 👍 (Credit to j1ll14n21 on TikTok)
And while some MU students can’t even get meals, others are quarantining in high end hotel rooms (Credit pickledoodleme on TikTok)
By not even providing FOOD for students, it’s not only an unsafe living space but just increases the risk of spreading the virus since students have no choice but to pick up groceries. From another MU Student quarantining in an off campus hotel:
