We are seeing an increase in the number of those remitting not necessarily an increase in $ sent. Where parents might have been ok with their small earnings that’s no longer the case so they now need help. This has serious negative implications for development
An increase in remittances means that the diaspora is subsiding the state. The state is clearly not providing welfare for its people. It’s only fair that the state should give the diaspora the right to vote. Those abroad can vote digitally, by mail or in person at embassies
