nge really pictured the struggles i went through my adolescence even till now,, yeah it all makes perfect sense when i look at what ive experienced
its just about you have to face your demons and not escape from them. were afraid to understand what we fear the most, and thus we choose escapism over facing reality
its easy to choose what appeals to us the most, though its not always the best option... there are multiple possibilities and futures AND we get to choose which one we will go through. we make our own reality and no one will do it for us
i was like shinji when i was his age, and i went through the same problems he did actually. i was lost and i felt alone. i wanted love from others because i couldnt love myself. i never knew where to go and what to do. i needed guidance because damn i was only 14!!
but experience is the key for understanding yourself. accepting reality is the first step to change, although we may not always like it!! ive always wanted to grow and be a better person but in fact we do it all our lives.
so i think that every character in this show tells us a story... asuka was like that because of her childhood we cant really blame her!!

+ i think when i was 14 i couldnt understand the depth behind the story.... i dont even remember myself reacting to nge on a specific level thats why i rewatched it
