This week’s creative of the week is: Nakya Ferrel! Meet Nakya: I am Nakya Ferrell, also known as KyaWrites, a senior majoring in Animal Sciences with a Pre-Vet concentration and poet/spoken word artist. I've been writing poetry with intent since 2013.

Poetry became an art for me when I felt comfortable enough to express every facet of myself with no holds barred. It became the place I didn't have to censor myself, and that freedom helped be truly vulnerable with my work.

Art is how I show love to myself. It is how I silence the storms. It is intimacy. It is connectivity between paper and pen, listener and performer, readers and writers.

My art is an extension of my soul told through excerpts of my life story. I hope to continue to enlighten and encourage people, one poem at a time!
