*Part 1 - Optimize First for Single Tasking*

#1. Turn OFF (almost) all notifications

- Open the Settings App, go to the Notifications Section.
- Go app by app, turning off all notifications.
- By the end, the vast majority of your apps should have no notifications.

There are some apps I recommend leaving notifications on for:

- Amazon& #39;s Ring doorbell
- Google Maps
- Uber

Any app that requires your immediate attention via notifications should remain on.

BONUS TIP: For all notifications that you left on, go back, and ensure badges are turned off.

Badges are the red dots with numbers in them that make you feel that there’s something important going on in that app when there never usually is.

You& #39;ll be happier not seeing those.

#2. Hide social media, entertainment & gaming apps

Apps such as Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, Netflix, etc should be moved to the second screen of your iPhone and placed into a folder, thus making it slightly harder to get to.

These apps are still visible due to their vibrant colours, especially Instagram, so consider moving these to the second page of the group to further hide from your homepage.

It also looks minimalist AF.

#3. The same thing again...just with messages!

Move your messaging apps into a folder on your second screen such as:

- Email
- iMessage
- WhatsApp
- Messenger

You decide when you check these.
I recommend once in the morning & evening to batch reply as it puts you in control.

#4. Disable App Review requests

There is nothing worse than opening an app to write down a note and getting hit with one of these.

You can turn this off in your settings by opening:

- Apple ID
- iTunes & App Stores
- Disabling review requests

#5. Turn on Do Not Disturb

I have had my phone on permanent do not disturb for a year and a half and haven& #39;t missed any important calls, messages, or meetings.

To do this:

If you& #39;re worried about missing calls from important people there is a sub-feature that allows you to “Allow Calls From Favorites."

This means you can still allow certain people to interrupt you or wake you up.

#6. Choose a simple wallpaper

The absolute best wallpaper is an all-black background.

It& #39;s super boring and prevents you from thinking that your phone is a fun device to play games, speak to people, and watch YouTube videos.

A side benefit is that most OLED screens that have a black background save up to 60% according to @appleinsider.

#7. Turn off raise to wake

The & #39;Raise to Wake& #39; feature lets you see notifications on your lock screen just by lifting your phone.

This is an easy way to get pulled into scrolling Twitter for 30 minutes.

Go to Settings > Display & Brightness > Raise to Wake > Turn it off.

#8. Add the Screen Time widget

The Screen Time widget helps show you where your time is going. Hopefully, your social media and entertainment categories should be at their lowest.

- To do this:
- Swipe right to the Today Screen from your home screen.
- At the bottom of the Today screen, select Edit.
- Tap the green plus button for Screen Time to enable the widget.

#9. Organize your apps and folders alphabetically

There are a few ways that apps are usually organized:

Make sure that each screen and folder is organized alphabetically to make it easier to get to our apps.

Each screen also has a unique purpose:

Page 1 = completely blank
Page 2 = tools only
Page 3 = organized into folders by function
Page 4 = random apps that can& #39;t be removed
