what really IS witchcraft? a thread for ppl who are curious or uneducated about witches and witchcraft!!
witchcraft, by definition is: a religious or spiritual practice involving magick and affinity with nature; usually within a pagan tradition.
witchcraft is a wonderful practice! there are SO many paths it is literally endless. witchcraft is not a religion, but a practice. though, you can believe in/follow a religion while also practicing witchcraft! some examples:-christianity

-hinduism
-buddhism
-paganism
-satanism
-agnosticism
-islam
-indigenous american religions (many different wonderful ones heh)
-traditional african religions (there are so many differen wonderful ones)

now, what is magick? to explain it simply it is the art of utilizing natural forces around us with intent to bring about change, etc. magick is neutral, neither good, nor evil. m the practitioner decides how they would like to focus this natural energy!

a BIG misconception with witchcraft is that witches are evil, have supernatural powers, devil worshippers, etc.first and foremost: we are not evil. there is, however the difference between dark/black magick and white/light magick! both are not inherently evil. +
(though if you have specific beliefs i understand you finding certain practices āevilā)
i personally practice light/white magick. i believe in the saying āas long as it harms none, do as thou will. what you send out comes back times threeā meaning if you send out any harmful/negative energies towards yourself or others it comes back to you times three.
the difference with dark/black magick and the beliefs as far as i know is ādo not harm unless harmed firstā though i donāt practice it so i wouldnāt fully know! my friend who practices black magick just told me that
my personal beliefsi am a green witch! i believe in animism. i work with plants, animals, nature, etc. i also create potions, spell jars, sigils, and i use art magick as well. iāve done quite a few successful rituals :D i have even performed a few with a +
medium (which was v fun.) i also use crystals and work with divination tools (tarot and oracle decks, my crystal ball for scrying, n my pendulum) and i give readings occasionally! as i said before i believe in the rule of three n use my craft to spread love and positivity.
i love being outside n surrounding myself with nature! iām only explaining this bc i am hoping itāll help someone who fears witches to warm up a little we are all very welcoming n positive! even if dark/black magick seems scary every single witch iāve met that+

+practices it is so lovely n welcoming n sweet!! so i rly do recommend educating yourself ab witchcraft even if you donāt wanna practice it. because knowledge is power of course! plus+
+i was raised with toxic religious beliefs and literally Feared witches until i forced myself to learn about them and my gosh it was so worth it!!! iāve met so many wonderful people and practicing my craft has made me grow so much! its seriously crazy dhskdj
