Andy, what parents are trying to reconcile is Pima County Administrator wrote a letter to schools in July before the prison testing spike happened to assert schools should stay close until mid Oct. Based on what metrics? https://twitter.com/AndyfromTucson/status/1303021215712387072
Adding to the confusion, Pima County Health once that spike skewed benchmark 1 told no one in public or BOS abt its context. As you recall we asked anyone & everyone what that spike was. Crickets from those should know in public health. Schools are not even required to
meet the benchmarks as stating by SPI Hoffman and Gov Ducey to account for anomalies that happen. Yet Pima Health and County Admin still assert schools shouldn't open nor should sports resume while AIA the governing body over AZ schools sports says it's ok to resume. It is
starting to look like Pima Health had a date in mind to keep schools closed--meeting the benchmarks hasn't mattered, either. Everyone who wants a covid test can get one and thousands of college kids are testing weekly. K12 students are the one's without a voice, their schools
closed and their sports cancelled. AZ is as near to 0 with hospitalizations and every day people get colds, headaches, stomach aches and more. We get the flu with and without vaccines and Covid will be here too. If the prison testing was done weeks earlier--we would likely not
have noticed. It was the addition of school benchmarks and the timing of those prison tests that got no media attention. If the benchmarks are used as a reason to close schools why are they not used to open them?
And every student on UA campus had to produce a negative covid test to get their dorm keys. We should expect lots of tests around move in days as well. All we are saying is let those making decisions tell the whole story not just part of it without context.🤓
