The world lost a truly great man today. I will miss him so much. Not because he was a Hall of Fame baseball player, or a wonderful person, or because of his strong faith in God, but because of his relationship he had with my son, Jake....
He was beyond good to my family, but especially my son. To say they had a “bond” would be an understatement. It all started when a bunch of us went to a Cardinals game in the owner’s suite with Lou. All of us were gathered around Lou just taking it all in...
Except one person, Jake. He was out on the balcony watching every pitch of the game. He couldn’t have cared less about Lou or the owner in the suite, he just wanted to watch the game. Lou took notice of Jake so he joined him for a couple innings without letting anyone interrurpt.
They were instantly drawn to one another. Lou could see his passion for the game.
We were lucky enough to get invited to Lou Brock day at Busch Stadium. He invited us to walk on the field with Lou and his wife, Jackie. Boy did our phones start ringing!...

You’d be surprised how many friends you have when you’re walking on the field with a Cardinals Legend!

Lou met Jake at the stadium with a game certified uniform, customized for Jake that said “Little Lou” on the back. Jake got to interview Lou on KMOX Radio, play catch with Albert Pujols and his son AJ, and sit in the dugout during their games. Lou taught Jake and AJ...
how to flip seeds at the players when they walked by. They even had people waiting on them hand in foot to refill their seeds and bubblegum in between every inning. A few weeks go by and Lou calls to check in on his “Little Buddy”, as Lou likes to call Jake. He asked how he was..
a little down. That some of the kids at school didn’t believe that he sat in the dugout with the players, they mentioned that only the players get to do something like that. Lou got real quiet on the phone and then said “I’ll be there on Monday”...
Be where? Villa Grove Elementary School! He wanted to prove his relationship with Jake was real. (Remind you, this is one of the greatest baseball players of all time. Top 50 players, 3,000 hit club, 200 hits in a season, all time steals leader when he retired, just to name a few
This guy is driving almost 3 hours to VG so his little buddy can set the record straight. That’s the kind of guy Lou was. Think of how busy this guy is and to take the time to do that for a kid is very impressive. We went to several games with him during the 2011 season...
One of the games we were sitting in the owner’s seats right next to the Cardinals on deck circle. Yadier Moline noticed his buddy Jake sitting next to the fence. At the end of that inning, Yadi tossed a ball to Jake as he was running into the dugout.
Some grown man basically dove over Jake and took the ball away. Little did that man know, Jake’s buddy Lou was arriving to the game a little late. When the man saw Lou, he ran down to get the ball signed. When Jake said to Lou “that’s the guy who stole my ball.” Lou then said...
“I’m sorry, I don’t sign autographs for grown ups who steal from kids.” (I’m sure that guy never forgot about his encounter with Lou and Jake!)
An inning or two went by and Yadi noticed Jake didn’t have the ball he tossed him. As Yadi was on deck, he asked Jake if he...

liked his ball, as Jake explained to Yadi what happened, it was his turn to bat. Yadi then walked towards the plate, asked the umpire for another ball, and walked it over to hand it to Jake. Mind you, the game is stalled now because Yadi wanted time make sure Jake got the ball..
(What a great guy as well!)
Later on in the 2011 season, Lou invited us and our family (20 tickets) to EVERY HOME GAME of the World Series. What a great experience. He knew Jake would love being there with the team he went to spring training with. He wanted Jake to be able to...

this experience with his family and friends. That’s the kid of guy Lou was. Extremely loving and thoughtful.

area to get to our seats. As soon as Lou walked out people swarmed us. (This guy is truly a Cardinals legend). He genuinely took the time to say hello, smile for pictures, sign autographs, the whole works. It took us over an hour to go maybe 50 yards...
When we arrived to our seats I asked Lou “why don’t you have security walk you through the crowd? It would definitely be a lot quicker!” I’ll never, ever, forget what he said to us. Lou said, “Jason, it’s not everyday someone gets to meet a Hall of Fame baseball player....
I’m an ambassador of the game, and I want it to be a great experience for them.” That really stuck with me! If every one would live their lives like this, the world would be a better place! I’ve met several famous people. Some of which are not the nicest people...
I’ve met people that said “that’s my limit of autographs, absolutely no more!” Not Lou, he is the opposite of that! He was so genuine to everyone he met no matter who it was he gave them his TIME. Jackie invited us to Lou’s surprise 75 birthday party...
It was at a FANCY private club to say the least. (The dress code was extremely formal). My dad left Jake and his buddy across the street to swim during the party. Lou asked my dad, “Where’s my little buddy?” Dad replied, “He’s across the street swimming”. Lou said, “Go get him”.
So my dad walked to get Jake and Jarret, who are still in their swimming shorts to come see Lou. When they got back, the security guards said absolutely no entrance without formal attire. So my dad went to tell Lou sorry they won’t let us in dressed like that...
Lou laughed and said this is my party, and I want Jake to sit by me! He then went outside and got Jake and Jarret and brought them inside. As they walked by the gaurds my dad said, “I thought they couldn’t come in?” The gaurds replied “That’s freaking LOU BROCK!...
So Jake and Jarret got to sit with Lou in the flip flops and bathing suits while everyone else watched in awe. Lou invited those guys to his house after the party and they sat down in the “Lou Room” talking baseball and looking over all of his memorabilia until 2:00am!...
Jackie told my dad that Lou just loved Jake. That he told Jake baseball tips she’s never heard him share before. To say the had a bond would definitely be an understatement.

When Joel had his Night of Hope in Saint Louis, we bought tickets to go. When Lou found out we were going he wanted to join us with his wife. My dad reached

wanted to meet Lou! We were invited to be guests of Joel and Victoria’s along with Lou and Jackie. Our family got to park underneath the stadium and had our own private room next to Joel. We got to visit with Joel and Victoria and even got front row seats...
When the video zoomed in on Lou the crowd erupted with applause! This was another once in a lifetime experience, thanks to Lou Brock.

In the beginning he was a HOF player to me. But our relationship quickly evolved into more. He was one of the most genuine, caring human beings I’ve ever met! He always gave you his quality time. He always took the time to make you feel special!...
I’ll never forgot the times we had with Lou and Jackie. They are two of the best people God has every placed on this earth! I’ll definitely cherish our times together...
I typically don’t post much on social media, but I thought it was important for people to hear how wonderful of a man Lou Brock was. God Bless you and thank you for everything my friend!!
