Why West Ham have the worst owners in the Premier League (Thread)
When Big Sam was manager, David Sullivan would make his own mind up on what players to sign.

“David would bring in a player he fancies, so you would have to live with that. He says, “I have got you a little present” but you just hope it works.”
In 2013, David Gold tried to persuade a reluctant fanbase by saying:

Moving to the London Stadium will “give us the opportunity to compete with the very best” and that the increased revenues will “give us a better opportunity to secure that top quality player”.
After a brilliant final season at the Boleyn, David Gold and David Sullivan said that moving to the LS could result in us winning the Premier League and Champions League in 5 years.

Sullivan said he would be "disappointed” if we were not at least part of the top 6 in 5 years.
In the summer before the first season at the LS, we were continuously promised a £30m striker who would score 20 goals.

We were linked with the likes of Lacazette, but ended up with Zaza and Calleri, both on loan, and Ashley Fletcher on a free. All 3 were massive flops.
That same summer we desperately needed a DM.

After refusing to meet Sporting CF's demands for William Carvalho all summer, the owners finally agreed to pay on deadline day after 3 league defeats.

However, the deal broke down after there was not enough time to complete it.
When asked about other owners changing the names of clubs in 2013, David Sullivan said:

“It’s very strange, it’s like us being called West Ham London”.

3 years later, he changed the West Ham badge and included London on it despite huge fan opposition.
Karren Brady said that the LS was a “World Class stadium” with “seats close to the pitch”.

However, when we moved it was a mess; scaffolding everywhere, seats were much further away than people imagined, and some fans were forced to sit on concrete blocks for the first PL game.
Things got more embarrassing after it was revealed that West Ham had only contributed £15m out of the £275m it had cost to convert the stadium to a Premier League ground.

The club was also having many of the running costs payed for by the taxpayer.
Settling into the new stadium as well as the awful transfer window meant that we were battling relegation in our first season at the new stadium but we managed to finish 11th.

Bilic said that he was prouder achieving this than he was his first season where we finished 7th.
One of the main reasons we moved to the London Stadium was increased revenue.

However, it was announced that we had made £43m in profit from the first season there, and GSB admitted that we would have earned a similar amount if we were still at the Boleyn.
After Robert Snodgrass and Jose Fonte both had a disappointing first 6 months after signing in January 2017, David Sullivan publicly revealed that his children “begged” him not to sign them both.

They were both still West Ham players at the time.
Karren Brady said “Our fixtures will absolutely have priority over anything and everything else that happens in that stadium”

At the start of the 2017/18 season, we had to play our first 3 games away from home because of the World Athletics Championship. We lost all 3 games.
After finding ourselves in another relegation battle, Bilic was sacked and David Moyes was brought in to try and keep us up.

Signing 36 year old Patrice Evra and paying £10m for Jordan Hugill after he'd scored just 8 goals 30 games for Preston in January didn't go down too well.
After 10 years of service, James Collins’ contract was coming to an end and fans were expecting him to either be given another year or receive a testimonial.

Instead, he was released via email and not given a testimonial which caused huge anger amongst the fans.
The next season GSB decided to bring Pellegrini in.

Most fans were happy with this, and in the summer transfer window before the 18/19 season the board had finally backed a manager, and we brought in some big signings like Anderson and Diop.

It paid off as we finished 9th.
The summer before the 19/20 season, we spent big on Haller for £45m, as well as Fornals for £25m.

Although we finally had a big money striker, we let go of Arnautovic, Chicharito, Carroll and Lucas Perez.

This left us with 2 senior strikers & Haller being isolated all season.
Despite this our fans still thought we would improve on our 9th placed finish last season.

We had a great start to the season but when Fabianski got injured it all went downhill. Roberto turned out to be the worst keeper in PL history and Pellegrini was sacked in December.
After Pellegrini was sacked the fans begged for anyone other than Moyes.

So GSB appointed Moyes.

The board then blocked Stuart Pearce from returning to Moyes’ backroom staff because he had criticised them on talkSport. This angered the fans even more.
We have the worst training ground in the league which is why we have so many injuries year after year.

We also have no scouting system in place and when Matt Law explained this on Sunday Supplement, GSB forced Sky to apologise on the following week’s show.
After a good end to the season, the fans are all behind Moyes, who has said he wants to build a “young hungry team”.

We desperately need a left back, a centre back and a striker. However after Pellegrini’s failure, GSB are now refusing to invest at all, giving Moyes £0 to spend
We’ve been made to sell before we buy, looking to offload the likes of Anderson and Lanzini who are out of favour. However no one has shown interest so as soon as WBA came in for Diangana, GSB accepted the first offer, despite the fans, manager and player himself wanting to stay.
Diangana was the last player the fans wanted to sell as we are short on left wingers and he fitted Moyes’s ambition of a “young hungry team” perfectly. He’s been at the club since he was 10 and they just let him go on the cheap.
End of thread. I’ve probably missed loads of stuff but this is for rival fans to try and understand why we’re so frustrated and need GSB to go. #GSBOUT
The biggest one I forgot is that when we got relegated in 2011, Avram Grant was sacked in the tunnel and wasn't allowed on the team bus, until Scott Parker had a word with the owners.
