purely as a revenge tale, azure moon does NOT work because dimitri doesnt even know who he's taking revenge against for his family and friends' deaths.

so it just feels like he picks out edelgard in a moment of mental instability and pursues revenge against the wrong person
I know azure moon isnt supposed to be a purely revenge-driven tale but e en the revenge elements are really weak and unfocused imo. dimitri only accidentally gets revenge against thales in the end and he never figures out that twistd were the true culprits of the assassination.
that's really stupid imo and it doesnt make it emotionally invested in his quest for revenge.

I think dimitris status as royalty holds this story back too because most revenge stories focus on more average people who arent inherently a position of high power.
like his country is crumbling before his eyes and like helping his people and trying to restore the quality of life is just a secondary goal for him through most of his route.

idk about yall, but having such a huge obligation to his people makes his quest for revenge-
-exceptionally selfish and egotistical imo. like how am I suppose to care if dimitri gets his revenge when his country is literally falling apart and that's not his top priority once he ascends the throne? seems really irresponsible and self serving imo
the point of this thread is that if you want to stan an unhinged revenge driven blonde character, stan kurapika instead of dimitri.

at least kurapika knows who he needs to take revenge against from the beginning of the story. he knows who his targets are. dimitri doesnt.
