I have avoided commenting as it will likely bring out the worst of Twitter but here goes... no officer wants to arrest a veteran, many of us also served, but being a veteran does not make your opinion more valid and it does not give you a free pass.
In response to many comments:
Each situation is different, I don’t know why certain people weren’t arrested at other protests, I would like to have seen some of these people arrested too, we all would, but it was likely considered not appropriate at the time.
In this situation it was clearly deemed the arrest was achievable and necessary and the officers carried out a taught tactic to facilitate the arrest. If the male was injured that is awful, no one wants to see anyone injured for protesting. As I said, many of us are veterans too.
