Tips to the Government of India on how NOT to ruin a student's future since they are so concerned, a thread:

1. Listen to them. There's a 99.99% chance that they are more concerned about their future than you are.
2. If you were so adamant about holding exams, you should have done so within the first two months of colleges closing. Six months later is clearly not the right move.
3. Understand that mental health is just as important as physical health and that making students believe for SIX MONTHS that's exams aren't going to be held and then declaring them at short notice doesn't help.
4. Introducing an entirely new form of evaluation with a three week notice is going to cause a lot of damage and panic.
5. Understand that India does not have appropriate infrastructure yet to accomodate online testing.
6. Understand that no one calls for cancellation of exams for no reason and that our futures aren't your political scapegoats.
7. Understand that hasty decisions like these are what will ruin our future and not make it.
8. Students have moved on. Many have jobs now or are enrolled in their master's program or are preparing for entrances. 6 months later is a little too late.
9. Private universities have cancelled their exams for a reason, to even insinuate that our professional future is dependant on us giving exams is admitting that the education we recieve in government colleges is sub-par.
10. Understand that people are made of more than numbers. Understand that we have value over and above our CGPA and that if you do want to focus on numbers, the covid cases in India are rising everyday. You might want to divert your attention there.
Please read and retweet this thread if you can 🙂. It won't help now but hopefully the message will go across!
