It never ceases to amuse me when a big account trots out the idea that the reasonable middle ground is somewhere between FSG Out — who abuse players, journalists, and Linda Pizzuti Henry — and fans who call them out.

That’s not just playing it safe. That’s false equivalence.
To be clear, people being saddled with the “top red” label don’t think Adrián, Karius, Fabinho, Wijnaldum, Origi, or whatever player you think deserves abuse is “world class” or whatever. They just think you’re a dickhead for abusing them. That’s the “difference of opinion.”
Likewise, those being called “top reds” would be thrilled to have signed Thiago, Werner, or any other big name player we’ve been linked with. They just think you’re a dickhead for abusing the owners before considering why we didn’t sign them. That’s the “difference of opinion.”
It’s not like “top reds” would throw a fit over FSG prioritizing transfers over debt repayment. They just think you’re a dickhead for arguing that Klopp is lying for the owners — that he doesn’t believe in what he’s saying. That’s the “difference of opinion.”
The middle ground between those opinions isn’t “reasonable.” It’s a compromise between people that trust Klopp to tell the truth, and the people working for him to do their jobs; and people who can’t be bothered to know the club’s finances, but are happy to throw fits about them.
Try to enjoy the coming campaign, alright?

I’m off to feed my kids now.

Maybe.
