Top 6 Australia exports to EU, £bn 18-19:

1. Travel: £2.75
2. Coal: 2.4
3. Gold 2.4
4. Prof services: 1.3
5. Oil-seeds/oleaginous fruits, soft 0.4

Top 6 UK -EU
1. Oth Business services 35bn
2. Finance 26
3. Petrol 20
4. Cars 17
5. Travel 17
6. Transport 14
Of note: UK exports almost as much in value of cars alone to EU, as Australia exports in total (goods and services) to the EU.

Conversely Australia doesnt export cars to EU. Or anywhere.

In fact it doesn’t manufacture cars at all after a free trade deal outsourced its industry
So Australia and UK have an entirely different scale and scope of trading relationship with the EU, most notably illustrated by the absence of a car manufacturing industry, financial services exports to the EU, and the fact its 10,000 miles away...
The question that arises here - is of what economic relevance, even as a reference point, are Australia’s trading arrangements, ie current lack of a free trade agreement with EU (though it is being negotiated now) to the UK’s future trade relationship with EU. Anyone?
