spl holds a special place in my heart bcs it's the first priest novel that i fell in love with and have been in love with constantly since april last year

it introduced me to a mix of genres i never thought possible could work. it gave me riveting plot, compelling characters, and so much joy. it gave me chang geng my best boy. it gave me my general gu yun. it gave me so much.
i've seen so much the past one and a half years, how the novel and the characters were dragged through the mud bcs of misconceptions of those who never bother to read it properly, or try to understand it properly.
but the thing that made me stay is bcs the characters and the story are just so good. i love the characters so much. and i am surrounded by friends who also love this novel.
is SPL perfect? a lot of people may say no, i would be one of them. if you want to see it from a very objective perspective then there are other priest's novels that are crafted better. but i think it's also the experience i've had reading this novel that makes it perfect to me.
i've laughed and cried for the story and the characters. i've had lengthy discussions about it with friends. i've wondered if more people would appreciate it the way i do, and i am very glad to see that there are so many do now.
