AoT side by side with Norse Mythology.

A thread:
In Norse myths, Ymir was the founder of all giants. He was killed by three brothers(Odin Vé, & Vili) Among the many things they formed from his body, from Ymir’s eyebrows they built a wall to protect humans from giants and the enclosed land they call Midgård.
Armin spoke of the outside world having fiery water and land of Ice. These are Norse references as the land of Ice is Neiflheim and Fiery water is Muspelheim. These two surround Midgård, with an additional one, Jotunheim, the land of giants. Same giants that threatens their peace
Midgård is fated to be destroyed at Ragnarök, and Ragnarök is a lofty Norse term for the end of the world; a set of apocalyptic events that will bring about total destruction of the world. The prophecies of Ragnarök are as follows:
"The ship Naglfar will break free thanks to the waves made by Jormungandr. Its crew will be an army of giants, the forces of chaos and destruction. And its captain will be none other than the traitor Loki who will have broken free of the chains in which the gods have bound him"
Eren is symbolic of bothJormungandr & Loki. For Loki in the sense that, more than leading an army of giants, both used friends & foe in order to bring their plan to fruition. However, Loki isn’t considered the final boss at Ragnarok. Jormungandr the Midgård Serpent is.
Now this might be a cheesy deconstruction of "Midgård Serpent" but it isn’t farfetched. This old serpent emerging from the sea at doomsday is also known as the devil and as we’ve seen, Paradis Island is symbolic of Midgård. If we put that together, we have "Island Devil"
A while back I read on a tumblr blog(I didn’t value it then, so I’ve lost the source) and as I’ve also confirmed, the kanji for the title of ch.123 directly translates as "Island Devil" and not plural. We could say this Island Devil is Eren, symbolic of the Midgård Serpent.
Here comes Thor...
"Thor and Jormungandr, those age-old foes, will both finally have their chance to kill the other. Thor will succeed in felling the great snake with the blows of his hammer."
"age old foes" is evocative of just one name; Reiner. However, Norse legends doesn’t confirm anything for AoT, unless Isayama makes it so. He could choose to take a different route. I do believe the man in the middle will be instrumental to Eren’s defeat.
All these events were fated to happen, and it all started from the tree Yggdrasil. I would touch on the Tree, Ymir, & the Nine titans as seen from Norse mythology if this thread was interesting enough, otherwise I’ll keep my hands to myself. Thanks for reading🚶🏽‍♂️
