It was announced in 2000 that Ajith and Jyothika were set to play the lead roles in & #39;New& #39;. When the first look of the film released, it gathered a lot of appreciation.

Ajith played a local don in this action flick that was set to release on Diwali(2001). After Ajith walked away,Saran rewrote the script & cast Vikaram to play the lead. The film was titled & #39;Gemini& #39;, which turned out to be Biggest BB in Vikram& #39;s career.
