I have recently seen several anti-illicit substance articles in the news, and one thing which really sticks out to me is that they seem to often mention things like autism spectrum, ADHD, etc. (thread)
I know that that getting ADHD medication (in the form of stimulants) can be close to impossible in Sweden unless you were diagnosed with it as a child. I was diagnosed as a child, and therefore it was quite easy to get them.
But I have talked to people who are 20-35 years old and they are unable to get them, and maybe even unable to just get an ADHD diagnosis. It seems like maybe they think that adults can& #39;t have ADHD if they didn& #39;t get looked at as a child or some BS like that.
If you want to reduce ASD/ADHD peoples exposure to illicit substances, then I would recommend making the process for getting stimulants as an adult easier. While it is a totally different class I would also suggest making it easier to get access to HRT, as that is also a pain.
Increasing jail time etc for drug crimes is not the correct solution, without stimulants I would be unable to work a somewhat normal job. before I had them, I got distracted by every little thing so I could never focus on work.
Just because some people do use them for recreational purposes doesn& #39;t mean that they aren& #39;t important medical things. And this seems to be the reason here. It was a lot easier for me to get antipsychotics (which I would classify as a lot more scary drugs) than stimulants.
To clarify I believe the reason for that is that afaik antipsychotics doesn& #39;t really have any recreational uses. At least not as many as stimulants, and antipsychotics have more side effects.
