THREAD: 10 ways you can show your support for low traffic neighbourhoods or other street space changes in your neighbourhood.
1) Hang a poster in your window!

Download and decorate a poster declaring your love for your local LTN and hang it in your front window for all to see. Here's one we've used in Railton.

Want me to make one for your LTN too? Just ask!
2) Ask your favourite local businesses to hang a poster in their window!

Those who support high traffic neighbourhoods will often target businesses in their campaigns to defend the status quo.

Make sure those who do support the changes aren't drowned out.
3) Respond to the consultation!

This one, surprisingly, is easy to forget. We're so much better at giving feedback when we're unhappy about something than when we love it

Respond to official consultations with details of what you love about the scheme https://rtstreets.commonplace.is
4) Chat to your neighbours!

Talk about the differences you've noticed and ask others if they've seen the same. If you show pride in your neighbourhood then those around you are more likely to do the same.
5) Thank your councillors

Odds are their feeds and inboxes are full of complains from a handful of opponents. Make sure that's not the only sound they hear (and it can't hurt to reach out to your local MP too).
6) Utilise the space!

One of the best ways to demonstrate love for an LTN is to gather with your community and make it your own. Build parklets, make street art, host a gathering -- whatever your community enjoys, take it to the streets!
7) Suggest improvements

Most LTNs around the country are being introduced on a trial basis. Designers need feedback from street users on how it can be improved. We want these schemes to be as good as they can be by the time the conversation about making them permanent starts.
8) Shop local

Get to know the businesses in your local neighbourhood, frequent them often and if the LTN made your journey to their store nicer -- let them know that too!
9) Help other locals to adapt

If your neighbour is nervous because they always do a particular journey by car, offer to accompany them on foot or by bike, or share details of other alternatives they could look into. Help them see the opportunities the LTN presents.
10) Leave your car at home!

Last but definitely not least -- don't make the most of the traffic free streets by becoming part of the problem. Whenever possible, leave your car at home and enjoy your neighbourhood on foot or on wheels.
