[unsolicited] recommendations on true crime podcasts & youtubers: a thread 🔍

note: partially inspired by a tweet made by @kkameiru
// p o d c a s t

when it comes to podcasts, my taste is quite specific. i want thorough and properly narrated ones – think of it like 'storytelling' instead of the casual 'coffee chat convo' style with jokes & laughters, if that even makes sense.
1. serial killers by @ParcastNetwork

pretty self-explanatory, the podcast is for you who wants to understand the psychology and mind of serial killers. it also talks about the their backstories, potential reasons on why and how they did it
2. unsolved murders [also] by @ParcastNetwork

again by parcast. honestly, i'm a huge fan and that's pretty much a given once you scroll through this thread. BUT, it is not without reason. if you're someone who prefers the mystery side of true crime, try unsolved murders!
3. solved murders [also] by @ParcastNetwork

as much as i enjoy the mysteries in cold cases, sometimes i just want to know cases that are resolved. they put my mind at ease. i was so thrilled when parcast finally FINALLY made a podcast for solved murders
4. honorary mentions from parcast:

• assassinations
• female criminals
• conspiracy theories
• crimes of passion

parcast has A LOT of podcasts, each with their own theme. i suggest you give them a try. see more here: https://www.parcast.com/
5. obscura: a true crime podcast by @obscuracrimepod

i accidentally stumbled upon this last year and.... it's SO underrated! the cases discussed aren't always high profile which i appreciate a lot. check out the website for more info: https://www.obscuracrimepodcast.com/podcast
6. criminal by criminal & radiotopia

as part of radiotopia's curated list of podcasts, criminal is the go-to if you're someone who prefers podcast that feel like you're just listening to casual radio conversation (if you know what i mean) unlike parcast, criminal is more of a...
.. "let's sit down and have a chat about this case" kinda thing. criminal is more than just storytelling about the criminal or the case; it also deals with people who're caught up in the case or have been wronged, one way or another.
7. miles higher by @KendallRaeOnYT and husband josh thomas

this podcast talks about anything & everything! from aliens to conspiracy theories to crime, this is so fun to listen to! they also have a youtube channel for miles higher if you prefer a more visual experience

[note]

it just occur to me that most true crime youtubers i like to watch are female. i have nothing against male crime youtubers so, you know, 🌸🌸🌸 ᴄʜɪʟʟ ʙᴇꜰᴏʀᴇ ʏᴏᴜ ᴋɪʟʟ 🌸🌸🌸
1. stephanie harlowe ( @steph_harlowe) aka the queen in-depth research/analysis for every case she talks about 👏👏👏

steph is one of the best you should be subscribed to, like right here right now. no joke. her videos are detailed af ✨

👉 subscribe: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UClVF8RcTN3UqAognWFGlJcg
stephanie also has very witty sense of humour and is very outspoken. one thing i appreciate from steph is how she believes in telling it like it is. she doesn't censor anything about the case. like her, i don't believe in censorship when it comes to true crime.
steph also talks about other things like cults – you know, that infamous manson family? and jonestown massacre? she has MULTI-PARTS videos on them

she also recently started on a 'dark history' section and i can't wait for that to grow. she also has an entire playlist for cults.
@steph_harlowe videos that i highly recommend:

• casey fucking anthony: (ugh this bixch)

• susan powell:

• laci peterson:

• watts family murder (ugh, chris watts 🤢):
(yes i have TOO MANY favourites from steph, i don't care)

• jonestown:

• josef mengele: (this is history-related!!! ❤️)

• tan children murders:
2. eleanor neale ( @ELEANORXNEALE) 💅

3. kendall rae ✨ ( @KendallRaeOnYT)

👉 subscribe: https://www.youtube.com/user/KendallsPlace

if you claim to love true crime and haven't followed kendall then WHAT ARE YOU DOING!? but no, seriously, subscribe to her channel and i promise you won't regret it.
like her podcast [miles higher], kendall's channel range from talking about conspiracy theories, murders and histories; missing person, unexplained mysteries/phenomenon, aliens and many more!

my personal favourites!!

• kennedy family curse:

• jaycee lee duggard:

• dirty john:

• the silent twins:

• was shakespeare a fraud?

• christian andreacchio case:
honestly, joshua has so many videos that i haven't had the time to watch all of them. BUT that just means there's so much more that i need to discover. what i appreciate is that they also talk about underrated cases (at least, cases i didn't know exist)
some of my personal faves and the ones i've watched:

• the hello kitty murder

• kobe boy murder*

• orange sock murders

• alaskan human hunter*

*these are collab videos!
5. georgia marie ( @georgiamariexo) 💀

my my, georgia is my absolute favourite whenever she talks about anything historical related ❤️ she also has a very admirable sense of justice and i love her for it

👉 subscribe http://www.youtube.com/thestateofgeorgiaxo/
if you're a history lover like me, georgia marie's channel is where it's at. the cases she talks about are also very diverse, especially since georgia feels so strongly about the injustice towards poc.
some of my personal faves:

• george stinney jr

• 1918 spanish influenza

• samuel little

• atlanda child murders

• timothy evans (wrongly convicted)
