Question for Christian folks - I saw someone elsewhere on twitter mention a "worship team" and I had no idea what they were talking about. Found this after googling and I have to say this does not resemble any church service I've ever experienced.

Is this a widespread thing? I'm not a believer but attend church services a couple of times a year as part of my local community and because my kids' cub/scout groups often help out with church events.

I'm much more used to the traditional "hymn sandwich" approach.

I'm mainly asking out of curiosity because this seems really unfamiliar to me.

Then again our local church is Methodist so they tend to be more pared-back.
