Venezuela opposition Henrique Capriles' open letter on why he considers (unlike Guaidó opposition circle) that it is needed to participate in the 6 Dec elections. He sees Maduro’s invitation to UN and EU for electoral observer missions as an opportunity - thread👇 https://twitter.com/hcapriles/status/1302732871405273091
Quote: “if the EU accepts the invitation and sends observers with its strict monitoring protocol of the electoral conditions, a new political scenario towards recovery of the trust of Venezuelans in the electoral path will begin”
He also claims that even if the Maduro regime believe to have power to demand, they know they don't have political conditions to do so. He clarifies that “the fight aims at wining the minimum conditions, which would allow our people to express freely”, but he vaguely adds that:
“if that does not happen, one will need to respond in a way of understanding politics and democracy which defines us as Venezuelans.” He acknowledges this is not the first time to challenge the regime, but he emphasizes:
“we only need to avoid repeating the same errors that have been commited” and that “staying with our arms folded will only be convenient to those who now usurp the power" /end of thread
