Story idea I& #39;ve had for a long time and still want to touch on. Woman who draws the supernatural struggles with anxiety and depression. Meets a woman who brings light and challenges her world view of despair and loneliness by providing the tools to love in exchange for friendship
This relationship deepened and there is unspoken tension of closeness. The bright woman gets sick, the formerly depressed, still anxious and scared woman tries to care for her. To lighten her load. The woman only seems to fall more into despair and suddenly passes away.
Cue a jump forward. This main character, this woman is backsliding in her grief and is plagued by supernatural fears. Things no one else can see and make her miserable as she does not have the capacity to ignore them and they drag her down. So she uproots her whole life and moves
Where? The city that the woman she loved but never got to tell talked about all the time. The place she dreamed of being in. The main character is uncomfortable with the city, but thinks it& #39;s better than home. The change in view starts to ignite her will to live again. BUT THEN
She starts seeing in passing, on subways, on the street as she passes on a bus, always in the distance, the woman she loved. The woman who died so suddenly, pleading for the other to forgive her. It& #39;s a brutal specter and one that threatens to destroy what little she has rebuilt.
She struggles not to become obsessed. Is that person really there? Is she seeing things? Is it actually a ghost? Or has she deluded herself into thinking she was better? These doubts are ruining the good things she has tried to establish for herself. Until one day
She is running for the bus and crashes into her specter. The person who looks like the woman she loved. And is confused and scared when this doppelganger knows her name and then tries to escape. She gives chase and corners the woman, demanding to know why she knew her name
And it& #39;s her. Looking exactly the same if not for new clothes. She& #39;s immortal. She knew that if she didn& #39;t leave, she would have stayed there with her and been discovered. She would have watched the other woman die. Describes the curse of immortality she has suffered.
The nurse maid to her children hundreds of years ago, her true love, (not like the man who she had been foisted onto, that demanded she simply not show her face in his business and not embarrass him) had been born with the gift. They asked then not-immortal to come away with her.
And out of fear and not wanting to lose her comfort or have her husband come after her for what would surely embarrass him, she declined. Saying that while she loved her, she feared destroying her life. This did not go well.t
The scorned, jagged woman with a gift said as she felt her fit of Anger rise, "If you fear your current life ending so much, you will suffer to live it for eternity." And she had been cursed. Cursed to watch all around her die and crumble to dust as her once love punished her.
She would describe manipulating people to hide her immortality, her curse to wander forever and never find rest. To fear and hate love because it is always attached to something temporary that she loses. That she would not bear losing her to time so she destroyed her life first.
And then after it& #39;s about connections, about trying to learn how to break a curse. How to forgive someone for leaving you, if they even deserve your forgiveness. And smooching. Cause I like smooching.
