What is happening with Rhea Chakraborty has now become a lynch mob on a national scale. It is amazing how Modi and Shah only have one skill-set and one stratagem for acquiring and sustaining power. It has worked since 2020.

Fundamentally, Modi's skill and insight is to seek the worst tendencies in Indian society, then to amplify those and create mass paranoia until the mass becomes collectively implicated in some terrible act of violence.

Once the mass is implicated, they become co-dependent on Modi. He becomes essential to not only assuage or dismiss the collective sense of guilt. But also to provide legal loopholes and escape routes from the provisions of Indian Republican Law.

We have seen this repeatedly, from 2002 riots, to Mazaffarnagar riots, to Delhi riots, now with Sushant Singh case. It will end in some type of mass violence that will further bolster people's dependence on Modi.

It is also clear that apart from this, he has no other tool in his kit bag at all. Everything else is fake. But the depth of the weaknesses in the Indian psyche allows him to gloss over his actual incompetence. Unless Indians have some kind of mass awakening we are doomed.

If have seen this with Gujaratis. They are so deep into the rabbit hole that they will both argue that 2002 atrocities did not happen at all and also that they were necessary to put "one community" in their place. There are also absurd claims of huge prosperity etc.

UP and MP have descended into this same rabbit hole. Once society descends into it, be prepared to lose one or two generations to utter mediocrity, and social stagnation.

It is also interesting that the biggest online supporters of Modi are psychopaths who clearly have some kind of violent tendencies. I fear for people around them, especially women. It scares me to even look at their tweets or posts.

With SSR/Rhea, Modi has now tapped into the latent misogyny of middle-class conservative India. I had been noticing some of these tendencies, that there was a reaction brewing against women's empowerment. Now this is a full-blown movement based on this resentment.

The only types of women acceptable to this crowd are the homely domestic types or the crazy-demented-screaming types. No room for anything in between.
