It’s that time of the year again when most post graduates students are nearing their (mini) thesis/dissertation submission dates. A short thread on things to look out for before you click that magical “Submit” button 🥳🥳. #AcademicTwitter #past3amsquad
1. Draft a submission checklist with due dates; which includes the most important tasks. Tick off each item as you complete it. Try and stick to the plan.
2. Make sure you’ve proof- read your work. You can also ask someone else to read your work if you can(especially if you can’t afford a professional editor). Utilise the services of an editor if you can. You don’t want to submit work which contains grammatical errors ❌❌
3. Avoid plagiarism. Ensure that your work complies to your institution’s acceptable similarity percentage. Refer to a previous thread on my TL for more info on this.....
4. Pay attention and comply with your institution’s technical requirements/ submission guidelines. Word count? Spacing? Footnotes? Margins? etc. Different institutions have different requirements, ensure you comply with yours.
5. Check your tables/figures/graphs for accuracy and consistency. Have they been properly labelled? Have you correctly referenced them in text?
7. Acknowledgements page: this one is interesting. But remember this is still a professional document which will be available online forever.....so take it easy there. Keep it short and straight to the point.
8. Once you have done everything and are happy with your work.....click SUBMIT. A complete (mini) dissertation is a submitted one. All the best 😅
