never inclusive? people who think gay characters being included is only a new addition to comics because of "sjw snowflakes trying to be woke" literally and very clearly are the ones who dont know or read comics, there is a very large number of lgbt characters in comics https://twitter.com/Bubba_GeekHero/status/1302209950865911808
and some of them predate the 2000s, you can pretend its only in recent but it shows your own ignorance when Northstar and John Constantine, Midnighter and Apollo have all been written being gay / bi in comics, we are still fighting for inclusivity and being open in main comics
Midnighter and Apollo have been partners since they started out in their teams, both the Auhority and Stormwatch have had them as established and confident gay men, they get married to each other and adopt their now grown daughter Jenny Quantum after she is born and saved
John Constantine mentions in Hellblazer that he has had multiple partners that have been both women and men, mentioning his history with both girlfriends and boyfriends alike
Northstar talks about being gay after adopting a little dying girl with aids and fighting a man whose own son died of aids but given he was a homosexual the stigma behind his death did not garner the same sympathy, bringing attention to homosexually and aids as well
this is obviously not even close to mentioning the rising number of lgbt characters but I wanted to point out this isnt new, gay characters didnt just start appearing in the last four or however many years these comic boys have felt under attack, when you cannot relate to a
minority in a comic of course you are most likely going to ignore the comics and it will seem like they barely exist, that added onto how little representation these characters are given and how little screen time they are given, but they are present and are the blueprint that
allows for more recent characters to be established and more accepted, they act like we are taking over comics when we are still fighting to get known characters to be shown together romantically, for lgbt characters to appear after only a few issues instead of being thrown away
I couldnt even make it to the end of this thread without getting frustrated and making my own, you can not like aspects of comics but to push people away from enjoying them because you dont like something makes no sense, its not a secret closed group anyone can enjoy being a nerd
