“slaves wasn’t human” is not a new thought. Black folks been disregarded & opting out of the category of human for years.

The whole point is there are other ways of “being” or “not being” in the world and the category of “human” is not only inaccessible to Slaves/Blacks because of social death, but it’s also not some shit Black folks ever wanted to be.

In addition, slaves could not be human just as we cannot be human yet alone be anything. However, the good news is WE ARE NOT HUMAN, and we can make our peace with knowing the humans are the problem.
