As soon as I started watching this week’s film, I was very confused about what it was abut and where the movie was going. It is essentially a war of copyrights or intellectual property. The first battle is on music. There is really a struggle to define if a remix is a individual
’s property or if it still belongs to, the individual pieces of songs, owners. Copyright and remix culture are still very much of pop culture and always will be because it is very relevant in todays world or music or even literature in reference to copyright claims.
Copyright laws as explained in the movie is very confusing to me. Especially because the copyright laws are not really protecting artists at all. Money from the lawsuits go into the pockets of the corporation that represents them. Copyright was very all over the place as we see
The problem is we have as a society always taken things from the past and ‘remix’ it or remastered content and it was considered legal, so why was remix of music not considered legal especially if you cannot pick apart the origins. I still don't fully understand all copyright law
