I have severe depression and I’m going to get help. It will most likely involve inpatient ECT (again), which is fine by me.
Why am I telling you this?
Because mental health awareness is extremely important to me.

Thank you all so much for your beautiful comments!
Just wanted to note – I’ve had ECT before. I had two acute courses in January 2019 (so that’s 2-4 weeks of 3x week), and “maintenance” ECT since then (every three weeks). Only had a break from it very recently.

I will also add that I’m not promoting ECT, just raising awareness that it is a treatment option. It’s one that works for me so I can only describe my own experience with my team at my facility. It’s world class.
If people are interested I can elaborate further.

Might go online for further discussion... gimme one sec to fire up Periscope. Tune in if you have questions

I just want to show that you can have a mental illness, even a severe one, and all the stuff that goes with it – the meds, the doctors, even ECT, and still be sane, lucid and (hopefully) insightful!
I’ve been doing it the whole time.
