I do not argue with people about "should I have access to birth control". Birth control and access to it is about policing healthcare, and yes, whether or not a person has a baby, which is a major life change, expensive, and can cause a lot of health problems IS healthcare.
like 1) not everyone can just go without it. 2) not everyone who needs it can get it from one of those online services - some of us need specialists. 3)If you& #39;re going to say it& #39;s about healthcare, then why aren& #39;t you ever factoring in how hard pregnancy is on the body?
Like I don& #39;t know who told you that pregnancy isn& #39;t a life-changing ordeal that is, again, a huge health thing, but... okay https://www.npr.org/sections/health-shots/2019/01/24/686790727/fourth-trimester-problems-can-have-long-term-effects-on-a-moms-health">https://www.npr.org/sections/...
"but Hobby Lobby had nothing to do with the Supreme Court decision that will effectively cause hundreds of thousands of people in the US to lose access to birth control due to their employer deciding they dont want to pay for it" uhm okay https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burwell_v._Hobby_Lobby_Stores,_Inc.">https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burw...
While these are not the same case, it& #39;s hard to argue that Hobby Lobby& #39;s case against providing their employees with birth control just because they don& #39;t want to didn& #39;t in any way contribute to where we are right now: https://www.npr.org/2020/07/08/884104509/supreme-court-undercuts-access-to-birth-control-under-obamacare">https://www.npr.org/2020/07/0...
The fact is Hobby Lobby is one of the leaders in the fight against providing employees with birth control. They& #39;re not the only ones fighting against it, but it& #39;s not random coincidence that people think of them in connection to losing access to birth control.
I have to agree with Ruth Bader Ginsberg on the recent decision: "Today, for the first time, the Court casts totally aside countervailing rights and interests in its zeal to secure religious rights to the nth degree."
Also the "but you should have to pay for what YOU do" argument is only coming from people/bots who seem to think that the cost of a condom is the same thing as going to an OBGYN and figuring out if you need a shot, or IUD, or pill, and what pill, and - it goes on and on
Oh and we& #39;re just... okay with the fact that Hobby Lobby bought antiquities from Iraq illegally? ahkay ahright https://www.npr.org/2018/06/28/623537440/hobby-lobbys-illegal-antiquities-shed-light-on-a-lost-looted-ancient-city-in-ira">https://www.npr.org/2018/06/2...
oh and they wanted to stay open during the worse parts of COVID earlier this year even though - and hear me out on this - unlike birth control, craft paper is not an essential need https://www.wbtv.com/2020/03/31/hobby-lobby-open-during-coronavirus-pandemic-even-other-retailers-close/">https://www.wbtv.com/2020/03/3...
Anyway yes, birth control is a healthcare need even if it& #39;s "just" to make sure you don& #39;t get pregnant because that is in fact a huge thing you should have say over, yes, I know I just opened myself up to trolls, but this is something I do not mess around with.
There& #39;s a lot of horrible things they& #39;ve done I haven& #39;t touched on. Don& #39;t shop there. Support your local art stores. (Shop at Micheals. Shop at Dick Blick. To my knowledge, those are both okay.) But don& #39;t support these people. They only care about money.
Rather than arguing with strangers about whether or not birth control should be a right Iâm muting this thread donât shop at Hobby Lobby stay in school weed isnât right for everyone and no one should be in prison for smoking it abolish the police support Black Lives Matter VOTE
