I asked Victorian Liberal Tim Smith last night what his alternative plan for Victoria coping with COVID-19 would be, but it was a Sunday and I get it, he never got around to answering it. BUT... This entire lockdown in Victoria has seen the Liberal opposition living up to their job title extremely well, seemingly opposing every single move by the Andrews govt almost as though the only qualifier was that it was a move by the Andrews govt therefore should be opposed

And look. I don’t agree with every single thing the Govt has done, particularly when it comes to use of police and fines, but on the whole I have never felt like there’s some giant conspiracy which means it’s beneficial in any way for Dan Andrews to keep the state in lockdown

Back to the Vic Liberals. Given how very public & audible they’ve been with their disapproval of the Govt plan, I can only assume they’ve developed their own roadmap to deal with COVID-19. They’ve had meetings, they’ve talked to experts, they’ve come up with an alternative plan

This plan must exist because otherwise, it means the Victorian political opposition literally is spending its days on Twitter retweeting conspiracy theories and shouting angrily “NO” like a toddler in a mood at the authority figures, and that can’t be right. They’re adults!

I‘d ask some of our more well known skeptics in the Vic Libs myself to show us their alternative plan but alas I’ve been blocked by some of them. And that’s fair, I DID accuse Brighton MP James Newbury of actually being 3 small children on each other’s shoulders in a giant blazer

And I also told Matthew Guy he was really bad at his job and made reference to the fact he never saw a skyscraper he didn’t want to stamp approval on unless it blocked the views of his rich friends. Blocked!

(I didn’t get around to saying his record as opposition leader is one long list of absolute fuck ups and poor performance but I would have and that might have made him sad so he was right to lock. I get it!)

But YOU, the people of VIC, you should be asking the state opposition - what’s THEIR plan then? They have one! They must! I’m blocked but I’m SURE the likes of James Newbury aren’t just tweeting pics of anti Premier messages scrawled on 1000tc sheets in Braaaaaahton.

I mean you’d have to be utterly shitful to spend a pandemic and particularly a lockdown choosing to sow seeds of disunity & hatred amongst citizens, not at least without having a better idea.of what we should be doing (RTing columns by economists in the Australian doesn’t count)

So raise your voices & demand to know what the alternative is! Ask them to tell us their proposition on how the pandemic should be handled in VIC! I welcome the opportunity to see them prove themselves an actual opposition party with vision & leadership
