10: Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3
First of a couple games that just have "Super Mario" in the title for marketing. Wario Land did a neat job of playing on traditional Super Mario tropes, but making them just slightly different, and really leaned in to the exploration.

9: Super Mario Odyssey
All my friends like this game more than me, and I still don't really know why, but I do like it a whole heck of a lot! And it's below a couple games that maybe shouldn't count. It's great! Every game here is great!

8: Super Mario Maker 2
I miss how perfect the tablet was for creation, but the sheer increase in content, the larger online user base, and the addition of the Worlds mode all make up for that. I don't agree this replaces all Mario platformers forever, but it is awesome.

7: Super Mario Bros. 3
I'm already getting dragged by my friends for Odyssey, but I'm betting globally this one is more controversial. Every game the rest of the way is pretty close! 3 just never clicked for me quite as well as its brothers.
