1/ God gave me a small gift yesterday. I want to tell you about it.
2/ In 2016 a friend of mine was tragically killed in an off-duty accident while on leave from his station at Cherry Point.
He was in his late 20s and had enlisted in the Marine Corps later in life. His death hit me very, very hard.

3/ I enjoy playing video games after the kids go to bed, and last night I was in a voice chat with two guys I& #39;d never met before who were veterans. I& #39;m not a vet but I enjoyed their banter and asked questions about their service.
4/ After about an hour, one of them dropped off and I started talking to the other one about his time in the USMC.
I mentioned my friend and his service in passing.

5/Come to find out, this guy not only knew my friend but went to school with him at 29 Palms. Went on and on about what a great guy he was. Talked about how my friend was a natural leader and since he was older took all the teenagers under his wing.
6/ I can& #39;t tell you what a blessing that was to me. My friend was a follower of Christ and I know I& #39;ll see him again some day. Death still stings even if you have hope. I& #39;m so grateful I was able to have that conversation with that guy. We shared stories and swapped pictures.
7/ Let this motivate us. You never know how your gifts will impact people. Act like it matters.
