Unpopular opinion:
Waking up early morning is:

Overrated.
Unnecessary.
Counter-productive.

(THREAD)
Self-improvement Twitter hypes waking up at 4am to be WAY more than it actually is.

Sure, it can help you get more done,
Sure when you do it for a couple days you feel super productive

BUT,

the thing is...
Waking up super early loses out on one key point:

SUSTAINABILITY.

Most people will be forced to:

- Cut down on social life, or
- Cut down on family time, or
- Cut down on sleep

To consistently wake up at 4am

Unless everyone around you sleeps early, this is not sustainable.
"But, waking up at 4am works!"
"You can get so much more done when you wake up early!"

You see my friend,
Waking up early is NOT the hack.

Finding time for important shit early in the day is.

Yes, it does work.
But it doesn't work for everyone.
You get stuff done by waking up early because

Once you're up,
You use your time to *actually* do shit that matters.
You could just as well wake up mid afternoon,
Hit the high priority items,
And coast through the rest of the day.

OR

You could finish all the important stuff late night
Sleep till the evening next day,

And again hit high priority work late night.
I GUARANTEE you'll be just as successful.

Everyone's *optimal* energy times are different.

For *most* it is the morning (hence the wake up at 5am advice).

But you, might not be part of the generic *most*.

So why tf do you want to fit a plan that's not for you?
Do what is

1. Sustainable for a long time
2. Bringing you results with the minimum downside

If you have to sacrifice good sleep to wake up early,
If you have to give up on time with your kids,
If you have to have 5 alarms to wake you up,

Waking up at 5am is not for you.
The point of this thread is not that rising before the sun is bad.

The point is that rising at 12 noon isn't bad either.

When someone tells you how great it is to start your day at 5am,

Remember, they're talking about themselves and not you.

They are not you.
YOU are YOU.
Habits and routines are very very personal.

Don't copy paste.
Don't mimic.

Instead, test, fail, reassess and repeat until you're close to perfect.

No guilt in sleeping till lunch time,
If you're getting shit done.
