Back in the good days of 2019, when conventions still meant meeting people, we had the privilege of consulting with Sci Fi author @darylwriterguy and Sci Fi editor @ltrombi about our wicked plans of podcasting about current affairs through a Sci Fi point of view. >
One example was Facebook's latest announcements:
Trying to make the first non-gvmental currency
+ A huge converged msnger combining insta, FB and whatsapp
+ A digital wallet transferring money through that msngr. . Look at these with an SF POV - what do YOU make of them?
>
And we asked @darylwriterguy - what take would he make on this obvious Sci Fi Book?
And Daryl, quite wisely, immediately thought how it will create an old-new poor class, completely transparent to most of the world.
And it blew our mind... though it really shouldn't. Why? >
Cause this is HAPPENING NOW. We're just so used to have our broadband net connection everywhere we rarely consider not everybody has is.
Did you know that more then 10 Million ppl in the UK alone aren't connected to the net at all?
Well, neither did we. But... >
Our first guest ever in this podcast, @Elinor_Carmi - a researcher of the digital divide - just told us that. Yap, it's a thing, and ppl research it.
So how come us Sci Fi fans - the very ppl dealing with technology daily, as part of our identity - doesn't know it a thing? >
Society must have a huge blind-spot toward the digital divide if even we rarely talk about it... And recording this ep made us suspect Sci Fi has a role in this.

Well, yes, this is the part where we give you a link: https://astronomitv.wixsite.com/scifieye/post/sci-fi-and-the-digital-divide
But before you listen, a request: >
If you got to this point, you probably find the digital divide important - or just interesting enough - to read about.
So please RT this thread.
More people should know and talk about it - and more so, people with a Sci Fi Eye.
You can follow @SciFiEyePod.
