So over the narrative of blame for film critics who dared to do their job & review TENET. Not all have a choice. Critics have to make ends meet, too. A review isn't going to make or break someone seeing a film in COVID times. Stop punching in the wrong direction already.
I didn't know film critics are supposed to double as public health officials & politicians, as well. Did we somehow get the power to convince anti-maskers & people in areas that are open to stay indoors with a single review? Miraculous how we've gained such influence overnight.
I realize the above is sarcastic, but every legit critic I know has been having private & public convos for months about this. For years critics have dealt with harassment, threats & told we don't matter, yet suddenly we have the power to influence entire nations? Come on.
And for the record, it's equally as stupid to slam the film critics who choose not to review a film right now. This entire thing has gotten so divisive and dumb in both directions. My God, when did we stop being able to deal with the idea of complex, difficult situations?
Just...guys, this job is generally stressful enough with digital media & publishing industries already collapsing on top of theater & movie businesses temporarily crumbling around us. We're all doing the best we damn well can right now. Can we not make this harder on each other?
