Things I’ve learnt in the first few weeks of being a pharmacist, a thread:
👩🏻‍⚕️ You don’t magically become confident and know everything you think pharmacists should know the second your name appears on the register. Same person, still learning everyday.
😊 Its the best feeling to finally introduce yourself to patients as the pharmacist after so many years of caveating with student/trainee etc.
🚘 Car insurance gets cheaper. 👌🏼
👊🏼 I’m even more obsessed with resources and training materials now 😂 Knowing where to look for information is key and knowing you can quickly obtain reliable information when you’re busy on wards is the comfort blanket you need.
👨🏽‍⚕️ Pharmacists are so clever (I knew this already really 😋) Constantly in awe of my colleagues and wondering if I’ll ever know as much them. Extremely grateful for the teamwork vibes and all the wisdom housed in my new team at @BSUH_NHS
🕰There’s never enough time in the day to do all you WANT to do for your patients (I want to talk with some of mine all day!) Prioritisation is one of the most important skills to master, and ultimately keeping patients safe comes first. Focus on what you NEED to do for them.
🖥You will have a million log ins for systems you didn’t know you needed. Make friends with the IT team and do whatever you need to to remember your usernames and passwords.
💤 I need more sleep & an extra coffee a day now (starting a weaning regime for that now 😂)
💪🏼 I thought I’d feel like I’d made it when I got on the register but now I feel even more junior! It’s easy to be overwhelmed by all the programmes, diplomas to be achieved, bands to move into etc etc, but I’m still taking moments to just enjoy where I’m at!
Team Prov-reg’s (is that even a thing?!) what have you learnt in your first few weeks? ⬇️ #provreg2020
