When it comes to social injustice you’re either with or against. No two ways about it. https://twitter.com/elsonyambura/status/1302667688867749890
In the sense that in any type of social injustice there is the oppressor and the oppressed. One thing common to all oppressors is the “ I am superior to you because-(reason)” mentality when we were all in fact created to be equal. So picking to remain neutral means that you-
Don’t mind allowing the oppressed to remain oppressed. You aren’t minding your own business. You are simply siding with the oppressor but you don’t want to show it.
You are part of the problem.
You are basically the cop that watched George Floyd die.
And there isn’t anything like picking what social injustice you want to side with. That makes you a bigot.
You don’t pick to fight racism but decide to be neutral when it comes to sexism. You don’t scream black lives matter when you’re homophobic and transphobic.
You should be a decent human being. And that means regardless of what your personal feelings towards a particular group of people are you should be able to fight their oppressor and let that group of people continue living their lives as long as no one is being harmed.
And this isn’t the correct way of thinking because i deem it.
It’s correct because we are equal and this is how it should be.
We’ll never truly know what is real and we’re all going to die anyway so let people live their lives as they see fit. (With no one being harmed ofc)
And you are allowed to change your way of thinking when presented with new facts. That doesn’t make you a hypocrite.
