my favorite argument for pronatalism runs: demons tempt humans and hurt them. but there is only a finite number of demons and demons are more effective in groups. more people means demons have to divide their time more. more people thus leads to less per capita demonic assault.
I first encountered this head-spinningly awesome argument when I was discussing demonic possession with someone and he was like “the reason there’s less of it today is there’s too many people and the demons are just really overworked tbh took 10,000 to possess one kid ya know”
to be clear I find this argument a bit silly, but in a delightful and I think very nice way, as it encapsulates the idea that the challenges facing humans are less intimidating when we are able to tackle them together.

also spoiler the actually correct rebuttal to this view is that in fact the per capita rate of demonic assault and possession has clearly not fallen, as anyone can plainly see
