Oh and for my boy’s 9th birthday he’s getting a retroid pocket 2. I’m working on a canon of games for him that I think he’ll enjoy. Happy for any suggestions (it emulates most pre ps2 generations well)

Chrono Trigger - it’s a game that still gives me the feels and made me want to make rpgs. I’ve yet to run a d&d campaign without an arc that nods to this game. I’ve only once been caught.

Aladdin and Lion King (SNES) - games that will teach you about preserving in the face of total unfairness

Link to the Past - he’s played the awakening remaster and loves it. This is much more of the same type of fun.

Super Mario World 1&2 - just the best platform era of all time. With the amount of Mario maker he’s done, I think he’ll enjoy seeing it’s original form.

Gunstar Heroes - the best mix of shootery fun that ever graced a cartridge.
