I coined the expression African solution for African problem in 1993 in a piece I wrote for the Wall Street Journal. I argued that the Somali crisis was on African problem requiring an African solution. I did so for two reasons. https://twitter.com/RealGetachewD/status/1302348480262922242
1. When crisis erupts in Africa instinctive reaction of leaders is look outside for a solution 2. Foreign solutions haven't worked well in Africa. Since indepe Afri leaders have copied all sorts of alien ideologies and systems to impose on Africa. Never worked. Look within Africa
And African solution does not mean a solution crafted by any African leader. It must be a solution anchored in African culture and heritage. For example, SA’s T&R Commission was an African solution because it was grounded in African jurisprudence
