#IAmAVeteran

I’m extremely proud of my service. I’m the first female to serve in my family. I never deployed, I was stationed at Wilford Hall Medical Center ‘Big Willie’ on Lackland AFB as a 4N1X1 Surgical Tech. Lackland AFB is also where I met my husband and

2/ became a part of the EOD family.

As a SrA I ran a surgical team that had 3 surgical services. Eyes, ENT & Plastics. I trained incoming techs. I was trained to be able to scrub into any surgical service. Our OR had 19 OR suites. We did everything. But the one thing that means
3/ the most to me was the family and friends I made. They were officers & enlisted..Surgeons, Anesthesiologists, Nurses & techs. We were a family. We didn’t always like each other but we always had each other’s six. That was never a question. I’ve kept in touch with some of them.
4/ The AF Core Values are:

•Integrity first
•Service before self
•Excellence in all we do

I live by those. I advocate and help my fellow vets because of them, because it’s my way of giving back to those who did deploy. I don’t do it to be thanked, I’d prefer not to be.
5/ I run the @HTF_RTF to honor the fallen. To put names and faces to them. To tell their stories so that they are remembered. I do that because of TSgt Anthony Capra, my husband’s best friend, our fallen EOD brother.

Some things are bigger than us and bigger than politics.
