As a child of a longtime [ @UFCW770] union member, I would not be where I am if my mother hadn't been able to secure health insurance for our family through her union job. So #LaborDay is an important holiday for me.

Thread.
(the owners locked them in the building in a fire & were later acquitted of any wrong doing because, among other reasons, no labor laws existed to protect workers' rights), I feel the weight of the lives that were lost to give us even the most basic of humane working conditions;
...ie weekends & 8 hr work days (tho those rights are being eroded again now).

This #LaborDay tho, I'm struck by the myriad of people "winning" at business while failing abysmally at being human.

It's almost as if...the way we're doing "business" isn't conducive to being human.
My #LaborDay2020/ #COVIDー19 take away?

We're not meant to hoard, we're built to share & to give. And all the material things we're working so hard to accumulate, WE CANNOT F&%$ING TAKE WITH US.

So, we may as well leave empty.

#SundayMorning #Buildercapitalists
One way to do that + honor the fallen laborers, is to follow & support the important work of activists fighting to end inhumane working conditions, like @aijenpoo @MonicaRamirezOH & @SaruJayaraman.

& as @JosephNSanberg reminds us daily, it's 2020 we should have a $25 min wage!
