For 2 years, I have said that no religious group is as fragile as Muslims. Few days ago, Armin Navabi made a joke about a Hindu goddess and he has ever since received much more disgusting abuse, harassment, and threats than I receive from Muslims for much harsher stuff.
I undoubtedly agree that Islam is fundamentally hateful while Hinduism is not, and that Islam is much more deserving of criticism and mockery than Hinduism, and I wouldn't even make the joke that Armin made, but it doesn't matter. The reactions to Armin are uniquely horrifying.
If Hindus are peaceful people who hold the key to fulfillment and meaning, then they shouldn't make rape and death threats and attack Armin's dead mother in the most vile ways, all because he called the goddess Kali "sexy," which cannot remotely be compared to the reactions.
Yes, Hindus may consider Kali a mother, but others don't, just as non-Muslims don't have to respect Muhammad and non-Christians don't have to respect Jesus. This behavior by many Hindus does not make them look wise and enlightened, which is supposed to be essential to Hinduism.
