Let me say something about Lake Lanier. Man-made for water supply. Whole towns rotting beneath, including the stands of a race track. All-black Oscarville is under there too, as least those who weren’t burned out of their homes. The waters are angry.
And entire forest, tops lopped off lay under the 100ft deep water. Divers call it the most treacherous they’ve ever seen. Authorities says dozens of bodies have never been recovered. And those are the ones they know are in there.
Every year, Lanier reports more boating and swimming accidents than every other lake in the state. I am not frequently given to the idea of curses. But if there is such a thing, Lanier is it.
