😀I like how folks make these assumptions without knowing the background gist.

Google offered to buy Nairaland, Seun Osewa refused to sell.

@AkinAlabi offered to buy Nairaland, Seun Osewa refused to sell.

How will Linda buy it if he doesnt want to sell? https://twitter.com/iamdlaw2/status/1302507673502572544
Does anyone remember the times Nairaland was displaying Google ads? Then suddenly the ads were no longer there?

Yeah, Google was petty. They suspended their ads running there after Seun refused to sell the site to them.
How do I know these things? Well, I have been at this for 17 years now. Let's just say I've been around long enough to be privy to information others don;t have.

I don;t want to mention how much Google offered, but there's an M in there, many 2 Ms or more.
What people need to realize is that Nairaland is Seun Osewa's bread and butter. He doesnt know what else to do without it. He will not sell it. What will he do then?

About introducing new stuff to it re: design etc, his stance is, "if its not broken, why fix it?"

I understand.
I also think Seun missed a huge opportunity not selling it years ago when Google, Hon Alabi and I am sure a few others offered to buy it, because no one will pay the amount they offered back then. And that is if they're interested.

Why? Because things are different now. Things..
have evolved.

Nairaland is a site that is notoriously hard to monetize. It hardly converts. Despite the volume if traffic it gets, how many people do you see running ads there, versus Facebook or heck Instablog, .

There's no clear way to make it make money for an investor.
