Cases have indeed increased sharply in Bolton since 25 Aug.

Given the spectacular failure of the existing local lockdown (in place since early August) in preventing cases increasing, the obvious question is why on earth politicians are considering an even tighter lockdown? https://twitter.com/knoweuro/status/1302551354448269312

A reminder of my view on when lockdown restrictions might be worth considering (as opposed to standard public health measures including protecting the vulnerable).

Just 1 reported death from Bolton hospital so far in last 2 weeks but too early to pick up effect of recent case increase.

Local officials will have more info on hospitalisations. There will surely be some impact, but would be helpful to know if they are seeing a big surge.
