My wee holiday in the Dales for #wildflowerhour - a thread.
First, some calcareous friends: Scabious, and Origanum @wildflower_hour @BSBIbotany
This one was new to me - I was sure it was a fancy Galium/bedstraw, but though I got the family right, I think it’s Cruciata laevipes, or crosswort #wildflowerhour
Here’s some water mint, Mentha aquatica - haven’t seen this for ages, always nice to meet an old friend 😄 #wildflowerhour
Here’s a Euphrasia eyebright... this sparked a long explanation of hemiparasitism from me to family members. Really not sure how impressed they were, but they’re used to this 😏 and a potentilla nestling in the Polytrichum #wildflowerhour
And finally, from a grazed Fremington Edge: a disputed white thing (terrible pic though, sorry) @richardwaites suggests pearlwort, I think saxifrage. It had very pronounced pink anthers - thoughts? #wildflowerhour
Just to add the resolution on the pics seems terrible. They are much better in their uncropped glory - let’s try this...
