Anyways, here's a very very late birthday present for #Yachi. This is my 2.4k long attempt of portraying my faves as my friend's personal experience with 𝘴𝘢𝘬𝘢 which is basically another form of family heirloom but not the kind that you want..
Rough translation of the Malay words:
💫Pertama - first
💫Kedua- second
💫Ketiga- third

And the chant, which I made up btw because I really don't wanna fuck around with things like this hahaha so yeah..
A beaut with a face so beguiling,
So radiant it attracts all men,
She etched on their minds,
As they yearn for her, everlastingly.

I try to make this sounds okay in English but yea, translating is hard..
💫Sampai bila-bila - forever
💫Turut - follow/obey (both are relevant)
First off, to understand about 𝘴𝘢𝘬𝘢 let's talk about Malays and their supernatural beliefs. Basically, most of this originated from Muslim beliefs and mixed with existing cultural and religious influences. For instance, folks performed dance to appease or invoke the
spirit of sea (Ulek Mayang). Before Islam became a big thing in Malaysia, coming in contact with jinn for gaining benefits was a widespread practice among the old folks. Usually, the benefits can be in form of beauty, protection and wealth. They would form some kind of contract—
with the jinn which would last FOREVER. Oh, the contact usually requires them to feed the jinn with dirty things (period blood) or specific types of animals / food (chicken, pulut kuning, etc) for rituals which would be performed during the night of full moon (this can differs).
Basically, this contract allowed them to "own" the jinn. So, this was when 𝘴𝘢𝘬𝘢 came along. Basically, 𝘴𝘢𝘬𝘢 is an ancestral possession of jinn. As the contract with jinn lasted forever..when the owner died, the ownership of the 𝘴𝘢𝘬𝘢 will be transferred to an existing
family member. For most cases, it will be the oldest daughter of the next generation. There are a LOT of stories where the owner will be having a hard time to die (lol) because they don't inherit "it". This mostly because these practices are considered as shirk (depending on-
something beside Allah) in Islam. As shirk is considered as one of the "biggest" sin, we believe that God won't accept your spirit until you lose your partnership with the jinn. And of course.. for most cases, the family member doesn't want to inherit the 𝘴𝘢𝘬𝘢 which is-
understandable because who want a lifelong contract with something that can turn your life into a misery?!? But you can't get rid of 𝘴𝘢𝘬𝘢 that easily because by rejecting it you can trigger them to go berserk. It will haunt the family members (everyone!) until the required-
member accepted the 𝘴𝘢𝘬𝘢. So yeah..fun..🤠✌️ Now, let's talk about how the 𝘴𝘢𝘬𝘢 is passed down. If the owner is still alive, they can give the 𝘴𝘢𝘬𝘢 in form of objects. It can be something that is wrapped in clothes or jewellery or words. When you accepted the object-
you'll be accepting the 𝘴𝘢𝘬𝘢. And the 𝘴𝘢𝘬𝘢 will haunt you untill you serve them what they wanted (ie. rituals). What if you just don't accept any of your relatives' gift? Worry not my friends, there's another way to transfer the 𝘴𝘢𝘬𝘢. It can be inherited through dream.
For most cases, you will be dreaming of someone giving you babies or objects. And if you don't have the power to control yourself, usually you'll be accepting wtv is given to you. So yea.. i guess we just don't sleep..? hahaha
Yes, owning 𝘴𝘢𝘬𝘢 does benefits you but studies say that keeping saka can cause physical, emotional and mental issues to the person keeping it. For instance, it could lead to interpersonal communication breakdown, issues in marriage, family members and friends and involvement-
in immoral activities (murder, r*pe etc). Yea..basically, 𝘴𝘢𝘬𝘢 is like having a toxic relationship with someone that has very skewed moral compass..so yea just please.. don't.
An example of 𝘴𝘢𝘬𝘢 is saka harimau (harimau is tiger in Malay). Saka Harimau usually owned by the old folks to guard themselves and their wealth considering they didnt have CCTV or great security measures during that time. There are a lot of types of 𝘴𝘢𝘬𝘢 but the one-
that I've written in the story is unspecified because my friend didn't want to disclose the info as 𝘴𝘢𝘬𝘢 is usually considered as private family matters..so yea. Before I end this thread, I would like to say that what I've written is just minor info about 𝘴𝘢𝘬𝘢 and if you-
want to know more, I've included sources that you can read from. It's really hard to find sources in English so I've included just only one Malay article that is really really good because the English articles that I found don't really satisfy(?) me. You can translate them using-
